Subject: Catalina 315 wins BOAT OF THE YEAR

Cruising World magazine recently announced the winners ofthe 20th Annual Boat of the Year Awards. Decisions on the winners were based on extensive dockside inspections and sea trials of the boats.
 
The Catalina 315 won the Award for Best Inshore Cruiser, proving a point that the New 5 Series is a great success. The 315 joins two other models in the 5 Series that have win similar awards. 2011 saw the Catalina 355 win "Best Midsize Cruiser" and :Domestic Boat of the Year". 2010, the Catalina 445 won "Best Full Size Cruiser".

The kudos are just flying for this new super performance cruiser from Dufour. Sail Magazine voted this boat the WINNER as the BEST CROSSOVER.

Sail judges remarked, "Production builders are pretty loose with the use of the term “performance” these days, but as far as the judges were concerned, the Dufour 36 Performance can rightfully claim it."

ALMOST HERE! Our Dufour 335 was offloaded from the freighter onto a transport trailer this morning and we've just received the green light from Canada Customs. Tomorrow, we'll be seeing her for the first time. She's all perfectly shrink wrapped. It's like Christmas is arriving early!

Here's our Dufour 335 all wrapped up sitting patiently at the Port of New Westminster waiting for customs clearance.

This December, the first Dufour 335 arriving in North America is coming to Vancouver, BC. "We are very excited for the arrival of this new cruiser," remarked Len Baronit, President of Yacht Sales West. "I first saw this model earlier this year at the Dusseldforf Boat Show and was very taken with the big boat feel in a 33' package. Subject: SURVIVAL COURSE | SAFETY AT SEA

AHOY SAILOR! West Vancouver Yacht Club is hosting the BC SAILING OFFSHORE PERSONAL SURVIVAL COURSE | SAFETY AT SEA course early next year.  Designed for experienced sailors who are participating in distance and offshore races and passages, the course includes classroom and practical sessions. Topics covered include safety equipment, storm sails, weather forecasts, heavy weather, man overboard, emergency signals and communications. Practical sessions include inflating and using lifejackets, life rafts and safety equipment in a pool environment. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a BC Sailing CYA-ISAF Approved Offshore Personal Survival Course certificate, valid for five years.

Even if you have no plans for offshore sailing, these skills are handy for inshore sailors too. Courses are filling up fast. Check out the comprehensive course outline and get yourself signed up!
